<span;>Sri Lanka's president Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Parliamentarians from the Illankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) yesterday Dec 4th at the Presidential Secretariat.
According to sources quoting, Batticaloa MP R.Sanakiyan, the ITAK, during the discussions, brought to the President’s attention the longstanding challenges faced by the Tamil people in the Northern and Eastern provinces.
The delegation also told the president, that a remerged Northeast province with a federal form of government is the solution to Sri Lanka's long running Tamil national question, the sources further quoted Mr. Sanakiyan as saying.
At the discussions with the president yesterday, the ITAK delegation comprised, parliamentarians, Sivagnanam Shritharan, Pathmanathan Sathiyalingam, Shanmugam Kugathasan, Sanakiyan Rasamanickam, Gnanamuthu Srineshan, Kaveenthiran Kodeeswaran, Elayathamby Srinath, and Thurairasa Raviharan.
